The choir "flourishes in the incomparable sound of many voices unified in tone and spirit, blooming in the radiant phrases of Brahms, soaring on warmth of feeling, perfectly tendered... In pitch, blend, range, balance and variety of sonority, this choral instrument is excellent."...Robert Commanday,  San Francisco Chronicle

SFBACC Announces 2011-2012 Concerts Under New Director Anthony Pasqua

We  look forward with great excitement to our upcoming 2011-2012 season under the baton of our new Music Director Anthony Pasqua.  Tony was named SFBACC's new director this Spring, and will be the choir's 3rd director in our 33-year history.

On Saturday, January 21, we will sing at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley in Kensington at 8 PM.

The following evening, Sunday, January 22, we'll be performing once again at the lovely historic Old Mission San Jose in Fremont  at 7 PM.

Our program includes a variety of settings of texts on the many facets of love, including Brahms's Liebeslieder Waltzes, Part-Songs by Edward Elgar, Scottish Folk-Song arrangements by Mack Wilberg, and Daniel Pinkham's "Love Can Be Still".

See our concerts page for more details.

In the Spring, we will perform on  Saturday, May 19, 2012  and Sunday, May 20, 2012.

We hope to see you in the audience as we welcome our new Director and embark on a new season of sharing beautiful choral music with you!

We do wish to express special thanks to Steve Brunsvold and Doug Allen, who served as guest directors over our past 3 concert series following the retirement of Dr David Stein in 2010.

Auditions

We are always on the lookout for experienced singers.   Prospective singers should have extensive choral experience, excellent reading and musicianship skills, and should be dedicated to the art of choral singing.

If you are interested in inquiring about auditions, please contact us  for further information by e-mailing us at auditions@sfbaychoir.org

When you write, please let us know what part you sing and provide a brief summary of your singing experience.

The choir usually rehearses on Sunday evenings from 6-9 at Faith Lutheran Church in Castro Valley, with at least one longer rehearsal scheduled each season for a Sunday afternoon and evening about a month before our scheduled concerts.  For the 2011-2012 season, we will begin rehearsals in September for Winter concerts in January, and we will begin rehearsals in  January for our  Spring concerts in May.

SFBACC Travels

SFBACC has traveled extensively since its founding in 1978.  Our latest journey took us to Turkey in the summer of 2010 for a very rewarding 2-week concert tour.

This was the choir's 12th overseas tour since our 1979 visit to  Lucerne, Switzerland to participate in the Europa Cantat festival.

In addition to our own visits to other countries over the past 32 years, we have also hosted several European choirs here in the Bay Area, including the Nicolai Chamber Choir from Stockholm, Sweden; the Westphalian Chamber Choir from Münster, Germany; the Malmö Chamber Choir from Malmö, Sweden; the Charles University Choir from Prague; and the Camerata Vocale Hannover.

Visit our tours page for more information about our past trips.
